The community-based services in CSI module for SABD are to expose students to the real community living in the real-life situation. We are to cooperate as a group for structural, culture, and environmental improving activities in the communities of various of different socio-economic status and social groups. The series of community services are offered as student strengthening project, we are given the flexibility to pick and to execute the task in the most ideal way, within the budget and time limitation given. As architecture student, we were then required to propose and execute design answers to handle the analyzed issues.
PROJECT 1 :
RESEARCH IN ASIAN ARCHITECTURE
The project is research driven that requires student to research and discuss significant issues to generate a critical understanding of tradition, modernity and globalisation in the Asian architectural contexts. These issues are discussed in lectures and pre-recorded lectures to facilitate students’ group discussion in class. Students are required to present their findings in the form of a research poster and seminar presentation.

REFLECTION :
From this project, I learnt how to analyze critically in conducting a research study based on my chosen research topic which is energy efficiency in vertical greenery building. Research and analysis to prove the energy efficient has deepen my understanding in high rise greenery system and the importance of green building not only as energy saving but the green building can be a contextual identity. This project makes me aware the importance of designing not only about the greenery system but how to sustain it and how it responds toward its surrounding context
PROJECT 2 :
CONTEXTUAL ARCHITECTURE STUDY
The Contextual Architecture Study project requires students to analyse how the selected architectural design responded to its contexts. Findings from the study is presented in the form of A2 presentation visual.

REFLECTION :
Throughout this project, I realized the importance of architecture toward the surrounding context, not only aesthetic value but the cultural consideration is also important. The chosen building which is Nishinoyama House reflects the identity of its city by adapting the vernacular Japanese architecture (Kyomachiya) as consideration in its contemporary approach. Preserving its city identity and show cast their cultural essence. This Project helps me to understand the context consideration in designing and deeper knowledge about Japanese culture, to design and yet appreciation toward surrounding context.
