
The community-based services in CSI module for SABD are to expose students to the real community living in the real-life situation. We are to cooperate as a group for structural, culture, and environmental improving activities in the communities of various of different socio-economic status and social groups. The series of community services are offered as student strengthening project, we are given the flexibility to pick and to execute the task in the most ideal way, within the budget and time limitation given. As architecture student, we were then required to propose and execute design answers to handle the analyzed issues.
PROJECT 1 :
SERVICES IN PUBLIC BUILDING
This is a group project to perform a case study on building services systems applied and installed in multi-storey buildings. Students will be introduced to the common systems that are used in a bigger volume of spaces and a variety of users. This exercise requires students to develop their own understanding in the application of building services to make a building technically functional. This discovery will be useful in their future design studio project s to ensure that their building design proposals are practical and efficient.
The objectives of this project are as follows :

To introduce students to the basic principles, process, and equipment of various building services systems found in buildings (experiential learning).

To expose students to the integration of various building services systems in a building.

To allow student s to demonstrate their understanding of building services systems and statutory requirements.

To develop students’ understanding and familiarization in applying the correct graphics communications according to the required standards (MS1184).

Understand the statutory requirements and regulations involved in building designs and its importance towards practicality and public safety.

PROJECT 2 :
APPLICATION OF BUILDING SERVICES
Project 2 is a group assignment on application of basic building services. The project is applying building services systems to a domestic sized building. This exercise requires students to demonstrate their understanding on the application by producing technical drawings incorporating the necessary build services.
In a group of 2, students will demonstrate their understanding of building services by providing the most appropriate systems for the building, which include :

electrical supply system

cold water and hot water supply system
-
sewerage and sanitary system
-
rainwater/ surface water drainage system
These systems form part of the plans required for Building plan Approval to Local Authorities. Hence, it is essential to understand the systems and its operations
